Favorite Bike Events of 2005?
December 27, 2005
Oh 2005, there are so few of your days left! I always like to spend December thinking about what a great year it has been, and for me that means reflecting on bike events. What were your favorites rides, races and events of 2005? I'm keeping a tally and will post the results. Leave a comment.

Hi Ayleen
1. Definitely the best event as always Jeff Bernard's Oxbow park Campout. I actually don't remember the ride that much. It's become a routine to go there every July.
2. Your Government Island Birthday Party. I wish somehow it went on for a longer time, like stranded on an island for a week or so (but with every thing you need on the island). Great Naked Dance at the fire.( awsome bodies I remember)
3. Kiran's Limaye's Park ride where we ended up at Powell Butte. God I like that Butte. We stayed till dawn there. There was such a sentimental and nice feeling , when every body shared snacks after midnight. There were some new girls. I never saw them again yet. of course the green rock played a part I guess as always.
4. Jeff and Kiran's Vernonia Ride. We camped out at their park after doing a 3-pub pub crawl in that town. The Pizza was big. I used (Insanity )hot sauce on it. ( The hottest sauce I ever tasted in my life.)
5.I don't remember now any thing different about the MMR's. But the last one was funny ( when you had to go home). I found a song for the Midnight Mystery Ride. It's an Old tune Maybe but with lyrics. I'm trying to post the video I made fpor it at home on the Shift list, But I have figured out how to compress the Avi File yet.
6. I jusr rememberd Amy's Midnight Mystery Ride campout. That was good. Nice park. We saw a a big Ship at dawn.
7.It was very good Year for BIke fun really.
Ali
[ed. note: many of these were free events through Shift

WORST DAY OF THE YEAR RIDE! It's always my favorite because I bring my mom and we bundle up in so much clothing. It has never really been that cold anyway, but we have so much fun doing it, and my mom is 75.

I'd have to say Reach the Beach. I just really love spending time on the beach afterwards and I'm really lucky because my friends have a plave down there so we stay the night. I rode from Portland this year for the first time. It kicked my ass but I loved every minute of it.

4th Annual Harmonic ConvergenSSe mountain bike gathering in Longview WA. It is fun and free (minus the total cost of driving there).

I had a really great time at the Multnomah Bike Fair in SE at the park. There was tall bike fighting, derby rides, and lots and lots of bikers!!!

Bike commuting! Biking through Portland is all the seasons, in all the weather. It is a great experience that keeps getting better with time.

CYCLOCROSS! I loved every xc event I went to, and I think I went to 5. The mud! The bells! The Excitement! Who's with me on this one?

i had a blast spectating at the cyclocross events this year, especially the estacada timber park. that diagonol down-hill with the 90-degree turn to a run-up was a brilliant spot to sit and watch the carnage. you all looked brilliant crashing! my next favorite bike "event" this year was the critical mass some friends and i tried to make it to right after thanksgiving. we never actually made it to the critical mass but instead ended up doing our own border-to-border ride around pdx visiting all our favorite steet corners and drinking hot tea. 'effing brilliant.
